I have Windows 7 and IE7. I don't think malware is an issue as my 'security essentials' catches most of it.
My issue is all of the adds on most sites. If I'm on an 'add heavy' site, and click on another 'add heavy' site, my pc goes into freeze mode.

Just a 'Heads up' Windows 7 is 'going out of support' soon from Microsoft. as in.. put out to pasture, kicked to the curb etc..Like Windows 98 and XP was earlier.
Would recommend Replacing IE with another browser, like Firefox (
https://firefox.com ) or Chrome (
https://google.com/chrome ) and then add an ad blocking extension like U-Block origin or ad-block plus to the browser of your choice. These browsers are current and updated frequently with security patches.
