I voted no only because I recently bought a griddle but love the idea of group funded reviews and would be in on the next one.

I have consulted with FMT about the funding aspects of the drawing.  He tells me as follows:

"There is a 2.9% fee + $0.30 per transaction.  So the fees would be dependent on how many tickets were being sold per transaction. Also, previously if you needed to refund PayPal would only keep the $.30, and refund the 2.9%. That is no longer  the case. They now keep it all."

I am very bad with calculations, so if I am wrong, please feel free to correct me.  But as I calculate it, on a $5 ticket, we would pay PayPal nearly 50 cents per ticket.  And if we can't sell enough tickets, and have to refund, the 50 cents stays with PayPal.

To me, the fair way to do this is to add 50 cents to each ticket, so that it is now $5.50 for a ticket.  If anyone objects, please let me know.  If it changes your thoughts on buying a ticket, please let me know. If I have calculated wrong or there are some different ideas out there, please feel free to post.

I think we are probably at the minimum number of ticket sales to purchase this item, so if we get this final issue taken care of, we may be able to start sales in a couple of days (or when FMT is available).

Looking at the poll you have

5 single tickets Fees = $2.25
5- 2X tickets Fees = $3.00
8- Just call it 3.5 tickets  Fees = $7.00

$210/5=41 tickets to cover item would need 3 more to cover fees $15.00 or 44 tickets.

8x3.5=28+10+5= 43 tickets from poll numbers

So the 5 per ticket is pretty close right now even covering fees, I have rounded everything up your $203 cost to $210 and the fees to the next higher $.25 increment.

If you have 5 plus 4X ticket buyers instead of 4 you should easily have it, by my math, but I am far from a math wizard.

I would agree.  Keep it at $5 a ticket and just sell a few more tickets to cover all of the costs.  We won't leave you hanging and not have enough to fund the total goal.

I am not exactly following.  41 tickets -- which is what is needed for purchase and potential shipping -- would result in fees of about $20 -- means 4 more tickets or 45 total.  Not a huge difference, but the problem is more in the refund area.  If we don't sell enough tickets, the folks would not get a full $5 refund.  Don't know if that matters, just need to have folks who purchase aware of that potential outcome.

I am not worried about the refund portion at all.

Just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head (which is a bit dangerous). I really doubt there will be a problem with selling enough tickets. That being said, if I buy a ticket or two it is more to support the cause and read the reviews  rather than holding out hope of "winning". I really would not be concerned about a full refund.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and it doesn't seem to be a problem on the refund front, so when FMT has time to get the PayPal set up, we will start a new thread with the tickets and drawing information.

I don't care about refund either, I think it will work out. I have wasted far more on lesser causes.
