Which hickory

OK I'm down to hickory or possibly mesquite for my only pellets.
I'm looking for the biggest taste.

What do you think?

I prefer the Cookin Pellets over the Lumber Jack.  Good heat and flavor with a fraction of the ash.

 My take is TRY THEM...   To me it is like asking what shoes are the most comfortable. It's a personal thing.

I prefer the Cookin Pellets over the Lumber Jack.  Good heat and flavor with a fraction of the ash.
I just bought 80 lbs of Lumberjack Hickory Blend --instead of 100% Hickory.  They state on their website that the Blend has less ash than their 100 %  The blend is Hickory and Oak. (I think).  Will try it out for flavor and report later. I tried the 100% some time ago but noted too much ash to my liking.  $9.98 per 20 lbs aint bad. Here is their description of their blends: (this is not an ad per se)

"Don’t get confused
When we say we de-bark the red oak base material in our blends, we do this for a very specific reason. Since the smoke flavor you’re looking for and expecting is in the bark, we leave the bark on the primary wood but remove the bark from the oak wood when we produce our blends.  We do this so the full rich flavor of the primary wood comes through, such as Hickory in the Hickory blend or Apple in the Apple blend. This allows us to have the strongest flavor in our blends!  Blends also have lower ash content when burned since they have less bark than our 100% varieties, which are not de-barked and therefore produce a more powerful and intense flavor."

I've burned many bags of LJ 100% hickory.  I don't notice any more ash than with other brands or wood varieties.  Great flavor and no issues with holding temps.

I don't understand the ash complaint.  Too much collecting in the barrel of the smoker or ash on the food?

Interesting. I don’t have this issue. I rarely have much ash in the fire pot regardless of the brand of pellet.
