Vacation.
« on: October 12, 2019, 02:41:55 PM »

We will be gone for a few days on a trip.  Won't really have access to the internet, so we have asked Bar-B-Lew and pmillen to be Moderators for that period.  I do not think they will need to do any moderation, I have had to do it a few times in the last 6 months, so I am hoping they will not have to at all.

Hope no one is offend that they weren't pick.  The process was to get 2 Members and just use the Most Time Online members and go down the list.  They were the 1st two and both said yes, so it was an easy decision.

Please help them if they need it.

Share some vacation notes with us when you get back.

Bonnie and I recently got back from a trip for our 50th.

SanAntonio. 5+ days. First time there. 5+ days.

It was quite warm. 95° for the first three days there.
Stayed at the Drury Plaza downtown and did the normal touristy things - Alamo/Riverwalk etc..
Had a fabulous evening dinner/drink at the top of the Tower of the Americas.
Took in a Rodeo at Tejas ranch north of town. What a gas that was. It was a real hoot for us city slickers.
Did a BBQ at one of the local joints.  :( My Brisket plate was a pile of fat.
All in all it was a great trip.

I wish I could've taken y'all somewhere good to get BBQ while you were in SA, although I can't think of any place outstanding right now.  The best chain type brisket I've had is from the HEB grocery stores!

Y'all should come and visit the SA Stock Show and Rodeo in February.  We've had fun every time we've gone.  It's been the PRCA top indoor rodeo for the last 14 or 15 years.

It would have been an honor to meet y'all!  And 95 degrees is chilly for us.  :D

I am afraid the site is irrelevant.  A few can't keep it going. Going to address the situation when we get home, but this may be the last year.  Or if someone wants to take it over and see that it run and paid for, they can have.  Pretty sure Kristin feels the same way!

Hmmm I wouldn't say this site is irrelevant. Slow lately but not irrelevant!

Not good to hear. In my opinion it isn’t irrelevant but I definitely see your point. Wish more people would contribute but I guess it is easier to lay in the weeds. I was looking forward to another dry aged rib roast,  that was fun. I enjoyed the tips, tricks etc.

Its paid though July of 2020, so it will certainly be around till then.  Will then have to make a decision.  The ThermaWorks has pretty much dried up, but with so few members, I am surprised it made as much as it did.  I know a few folks have said they would contribute to keep it going, it cost about $200/year and that is with the SSL, which I see no need for since we do not transact business or take Credit Cards or other secretive info.

Will see, maybe I come back for vacation and have a new outlook, but there just is no content, so why would folks even visit!

Is it feasible to get members to help foot the bill? It’s a lunch for about 20 people, I can guarantee you 20 people would eat a PB&J one time for that.
In my opinion, it truly needs you and Kristin at the helm. Dang.

I completely agree and would gladly throw a few bones to keep it running and you two around, despite the grief I get for not liking the taste of the Memphis Kool-aid. The members here (and the same people on the old site that shall not be called by name) have taught me so much about pellet grills, cooking, and so many other things.

Enjoy that trip!
