Stir Crazy Topic -- Dinner and a Movie
« on: March 25, 2020, 04:39:25 PM »

OK folks, I realize I am going stir crazy, so I am going to post and see all those creative minds out there start working and come up with some good things for all all to read and maybe implement.  It is called "Dinner and a Movie".  You select a movie and then tell us your accompanying menu plan.  I don't have one yet, but will put out a bad example and hopefully others will join in.  You are not limited to just one -- post away as many times, please!!  I need something to occupy my mind!

Example:

Movie:  Silence of the Lambs

Menu:  Crown Roast of Lamb
           Fava Beans
           Mint Jelly
           Chianti

I know it is a bad example, hopefully someone can improve upon it!!!

A nice 80's theme when life was simpler

Movie: sixteen candles

Meal: French onion soup and potato skins for apps. Manwich and shake and bake chicken for the main course.  A little birthday cake with candles and all to mesh with the movie for dessert.

Our 46 anniversary is coming up next week.  We had planned on eating out, but locally there are no sit down restaurants allowed due to the virus.  We could order take out, but we live 20 minutes away so the food may not be at it's best by the time we got back home.  So we will be eating at our own BBQ/smoke restaurant instead.  I have some nice size porterhouse steaks to grill along with baked potatoes and something.  We have extra bananas that are quickly going bad, so I hope to get banana pudding also.

Being I have 15 free movies from Dish we will watch a movie that night and have beer and popcorn to snack on.  We have been doing Saturday date nights with beer and popcorn for a while already.

OK ruebenray, then we need your "Dinner and a Movie" selection!

It will most likely be the latest Terminator movie.  We watched the latest Jumanji movie last weekend.

We will have the Porterhouse steak, baked potato and banana pudding for a late lunch.  If we had fresh corn we would have corn on the cob also, but we don't.  A local farmer has the best corn out there which we are hoping will be coming soon.  A local farmers market does not have much yet.

After our siesta we will watch the movie as it gets dark with beer and popcorn.
