This was great insight that Pellet Fan got the word out before the other site went into oblivion, as I can only presume, since it is and has been down a long time now.  The ease of using the picture post alone makes me extremely happy and will enhance the communication from one to another greatly now that it is so fast and easy. Looking forward for a experience every time I visit.  Thank you again to all responsible!

I believe as a registered user, you have added benefit that the system keeps track of what you've seen and what you haven't seen, that alone is worth registering, even if you only view, never post...

Not sure if it's true on this site or not, but on many similar forums, you can't do searches as well as a guest, as you can as a registered user.

There may very well be other little things that being a registered user gets you...   and I think some people are just shy or reluctant to post, for whatever reasons... nothing necessaily bad.

Those are good points about being registered vs guest LSJ that I never considered.

I suppose I'm a lurker, since this is my first post. I posted a lot {for me} on the other site, but what I read and reviewed from both sites I have learned a lot about pellet cooking and all of the gadgets that you can use to cook with and enhance your cooking experience. I'm not into wifi, just straight forward cooking. I like to read all of the post on what others cook and I learn from that. I appreciate the fact that I have such a site to review and learn from, so thank you Bentley and Kristen and the rest of the pellet fan gang, I hope to remain a "pellet fan" for a long time.

Bentley and Kristen, thank you SO much.  I was depressed when Pelletheads went dark.  Had not heard about this site and only found it serendipitously when searching another topic in BBQ Brethren.

Another reason to register, no pictures showed up until I did so.

I'll apologize in advance for  continuing to lurk... it's just who I am.

Everyone can lurk all they want...I am starting to get answers as to why folks might sign up and not post.  That was my question.

I'm one with the low post count, but hope to change that the more I use my new setup (Memphis Pro).  One of my initial reasons for joining was so that I could see the pictures that are actually attached/uploaded to the post (unable to view as guest).  The other reason was I read a lot of information posted by Bentley in regards to the Memphis grill on the other pellet site which helped me make the decision to purchase my own so I knew this site would provide valuable information as well.

Again, I hope to contribute more when able, right now though it would be useless posts.  I would rather have 10 useful posts than 100 of dull content.

Thanks,
Matt

It will take a while to get a lot of performance tests done. As we can all see how extensive they are & from what I see the performance tests have always been honest, with Bentley a spade is a spade and that's what makes these tests so important to this forum & it's deciding Grill purchasers.

This must be specific to the Browser or device you are using, cuz I can view all the photos on this site as a guest using my laptop and IE.

I was wondering about this as I can see maybe 1 pic in 20-30 or so when I lurk at werk. But we have an incredibly tight firewall that blocks FAR more than it should. Sooo... instead of surfing on the office unit, people just pick up their cell phone and stare at it.  ::)

And another thing...

Even when logged in; if I'm surfing 'recent posts', the vast majority show the box with the X in it. Only when I go directly to the thread do the pics show up. No idea how that werks as a scant few do show the pic(s) in the search topics mode.

I'm thinking it may have more to do with how/where the pics were posted from?

Might also be the internet bandwidth...if you have a slow connection.
