Winter 20/21 - First Nor'easter 12/16
« on: December 15, 2020, 12:22:15 PM »

Current weather forecast here is to have 20-24 inches of snow fall tomorrow into Thursday.  I hope it doesn't mess up the pellets in the Memphis.  The MAK has been pulled under the patio as I have had issues with it before.

Do you have a tarp you can throw over the Memphis?
Snow hasn't bothered mine (covered), but then I don't get 2 feet of the stuff either.

I agree with 02ebz06, electronics (nor pellets) do not like moisture, I'd cover it with something, even a large trash bag. I assume that its been out in the rain/snow before and survived, but I'd still cover it, there is always a first time and it could get ugly.

It's been in rain and snow since I've owned it so probably about 10 years.  I don't like covering it because I have had other grills that have had the wind get up under the cover and blow them over.  It also has a broken wheel which makes it hard to move around or I would have moved it under the patio too.

Yeah, the plastic wheels are not the best. Rather hard to lock as well.
I removed them and put some better ones on the Pro when I had it.

Big difference being just 150 miles as the crow flies North.  5 days ago we were to get 8-10 inches Weds morning and 3-5 in the evening, then 3 days ago it was 5-8 with 1-3 in the evening to now, 12 hours away it is 1-3 with rain in the afternoon.  I was looking forward to getting to use the tractor to clear...but Alas..

Lucky to have both the 590 and 380 covered and under the porch which faces South.  Sure would take the pellets out if they were not, they turn to cement when they get wet.  We had your storm Sunday with 5-6 inches in Tulsa, all snow. Fortunately, it was gentle with no wind.  Sorry it has built up on the way East.
Hunker down and stay warm and dry.  :(

If you look at this radar map this morning, you can sort of see how two storms are converging on PA sort of like enemy fronts in a battlefield.  What looks to be a clear sky right now is supposed to change pretty dramatically in the next 6 hours or so.  It seems they have backed the forecast down since yesterday now in the 12-18 inch range.

Went through my tractor and blower, It's all ready to go. Latest snowfall totals and they are bumping them up as it gets closer !!!

Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel is in town this morning.  Here is a picture he tweeted from one of the most historic hotels in the country.

Troops are closing in quickly and have a force out in front.  Looks like Pellet Fan HQ may be getting sleet and/or ice.

For those that are not aware of what a nor'easter is, here is a brief description.  There is a storm coming from the North pushing Southeast with snow and cold air.  There is a storm coming from the South pushing Northeast carrying a lot of moisture.  Those two storms are going to hit each other and stall for anywhere from 12-24 hours.  Where it stalls will have moisture drop on the area.  The line of demarcation between the cold front and the warmer air will determine who get snow, sleet, ice, rain, or a mixture of any of them as the front moves up or down.  That projection of that line has moved quite a bit the last few days and will continue to be debated for a few more hours.  Then it will become watch and see which front is stronger.  Only time will tell where I live as we went from being 50-75 miles northwest of the line where more snow will fall to now being 10-25 miles northwest of the line with chance of sleet reducing the snow accumulations.  I think this part of the country is the most prone to these types of storms during late Fall, Winter, and early Spring.

I do not understand why my hair looks brown when I look in the mirror!  Hair is getting thin on top, don't like the looks of that!
