Omaha Steaks ???
« on: April 27, 2021, 11:26:39 AM »

See a lot of TV commercials for them and even have something from them coming in the mail today.

So, just curious if anybody has ever bought from them and if they are any good and worth the money.
I'm assuming they would cost more than what you get in the grocery store.

I used to buy them as gifts for my folks. They loved them. I visited once and they cooked some for me. Blah. Decent quality, nothing special, way overpriced. You can find better locally for much less $$.

I had tried them once before and wasn't particularly impressed. They act like it is magical and I typically find way better meat at the local butcher for lower cost.

I think you will get much better value for your $ at Costco.

I suspected they weren't worth the hype.
Been seeing commercials for decades, so I figured somebody must be buying them.
For gifts I guess as Bregent said.

I second the Costco for value.  Not impressed with the Omaha steak purchases we've experienced in the past.

I 3rd this.  I've probably had Omaha Steak packages at least a half dozen times as gifts to me.  They are fine free, but I would never buy them for myself.

I felt that way about free alcohol.  I never had a bad free drink, I got bad ice every once and awhile, but never bad free booze!

They are fine free, but I would never buy them for myself.

Just go down to your local supermarket look through their selection and get the best looking pack.  You're better off.  They think way to much of themselves.

Omaha Steaks?  I could easily bicycle over to their production site.  They seem to have a great reputation but I don't see why.
     1.  Their meat is not USDA graded, but you pay a premium price.
     2.  Their quality isn't as good as Costco or any number of Omaha grocery stores.
     3.  You'll be subject to incessant marketing if you get on their targeted customer list.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that part.  They were relentless and I had to call several times to demand they remove me from their list.

I ordered a few times from Omaha Steaks years ago. From my dated experience, you can get far better product from Porter Road, Creekstone Farms, and Snake River. All pricier than Costco. I do feel the products from the 3 I mentioned are better than Costco, but I’m still generally satisfied most of the time with Costco’s offerings and use the others for things Costco and Fareway don’t sell here (or at least not regularly). Tri-tip, beef ribs, flank steak, etc.

We've been given stuff from there and bought some a couple times.  Way too pricey for the quality I think.  The few times I've been to Costco they had better meat than what we got from Omaha Steaks.  I went to Sam's yesterday and the meat there wasn't very good looking either.  I can get better at H-E-B.

Years ago we got Omaha Steaks as gifts and even bought our own box or two.  This was years ago.  Way to expensive for what you get, especially since the quality at Costco and local shops are so much better for much less $$.
