Any bean fans?
« on: September 02, 2021, 01:33:08 PM »

Good bbq beans are hard to find and a lot of work and honestly, when you make them unless it’s for a gathering….way too much for 2.
We found some canned beans that we really like.
Serious bean co. Is their name.
We have tried the following ones. Buffalo beans, jalapeno and bacon, mustard q and our absolute favorite is “sweet and sassy Dr. pepper”, maybe we missed the mark but dang.
I really do eat them right out of the can.

Never heard of them. Will have to look for them.
Mostly Bush's in the stores here.  Not a fan.
We like B&M baked beans, but we do doctor them up with bell pepper, onions, green chili (sometimes), bacon, liquid smoke, a little brown sugar, and some Jack Daniels.
Another favorite is Hog Apple Baked Beans.  Came from the old PH site.  Might have been DogBreath's recipe.

EDIT:  Our local Smith's (aka Kroger) doesn't carry them but Wally World does.  Will give them a try - Thanks.

I've heard good things about Serious Beans. In fact I have a can of their jalapeno and bacon on hand. Haven't tried yet.
My favorite bean so far are Captain Ken's baked beans in the frozen section. Better than home made in my opinion. I have a container in the freezer most of the time. I do enjoy some red beans and rice also. Only problem is I like to make them with a nice ham bone and I don't always have one.

Always been a fan of Pintos. Just got a new Instapot as a service award from work, may have to fix some in that as a proper test! With cornbread, of course!  :lick:

I only eat green beans.  I may eat some beans if they come in a prepared chili.  Other than that, I don't eat them.

This is me also. growing up the only beans I would eat were in Campbells Vegetable soup, and hat was because I was to lazy to pick them out. I will not do green beans browned in a skillet or roasted in the oven, also do some in chili, and if I make up a bean mixture for a side I will have a few. That is usually just a mix of different canned beans kicked up some.

I would try the Buffalo and the Jalapeno and Bacon ones though if I found them.

I ordered a Vegan Variety Six Pack from the company. I did not realize that my order was vegan until I got the shipping conformation. My bad.

Never seen that brand, wonder if it is a regional thing? Love Beans! Not a fan of sweet, but love what I call a BBQ Pit Beans, usually has lots of beef, onions and bacon in it!  But I love Pinto's with onions and corn bread.  Navy or Northern in a good soup.  Black in a corn and chili hash....Yes, I love all bean except the Evil Lima!  Which is more like a mutated Green Pea.  Which ironically, I love!

I can honestly say I've only met 1 bean I did not care for.  Chickpea.  Because they make hummus out of them.   :puke:
