Google 'yeti vs?' and you'll get plenty of reading material.

That’s not my problem Bob! I’m unsure what size to get!  I want the smallest size unit that will rest a brisket.

If that's the case; how long do you plan to keep it on ice? From what I've read, the yeti will stay cold for 3.5 to 4.5 days.
Have you czeched out the Sub Z product line? They get real close and are similar in size. Half the price of the yeti.

It’s more about resting a hot, cooked brisket until dinner time.

Got it.

Wrap it well enough and get a cheap Styrofoam fish cooler.

But I want a nice cooler. It’ll have backup duty as a traditional cooler.

I ended up buying this one:
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15639

$150 for a rotomolded cooler instead of $379 for the YETI version. Is the Yeti better? Probably. Will I notice? I doubt it.

I could not fine any detail test data on the Pure Outdoor but it appears to have all of the features of a YETI but at a much lower cost. Let us know how it works out.

I was hoping for a real vs. review but didn’t see one either. I just can’t justify the cost of a yeti.

I have the rtic softside large and small, I use the large with towels to rest a full packer and it works great, also good to take it to the party. I also have 2 of the rotomolded rtic coolers but I use one for a pool side party cooler (big and heavy when full) but I’m not moving it around out there and have used these as well but honestly I prefer the softside. The soft sided ones go on trips to Costco when I’m stocking up and need to keep things cool for the ride home.

We use Igloo’s at home and competitions and they work just fine and don’t cost an arm and a leg.

I'll admit there's a bit of a "neato" factor to getting a rotomolded cooler :)

... My fear is that the 70 will be bigger than I’ll need and too heavy to move when it’s full of ice and drinks. ..
Well, a liter of water weighs 2.2# and a quart weighs 2#.  You can make your own estimates.  A mostly-full 50 liter cooler with drinks and ice could easily weigh 75#.

The implication here is that you are buying one of the big bucks Yetis or something.  Do you really need to keep stuff cold for a long, long, time?  Just askin'

Yep.  That's the question.  Is it smarter to pay less for a cooler with less performance and use the money saved to buy ice?  I'd say, "Yes, it's smarter...unless you're somewhere where fresh ice isn't available."

If you're trying to keep something warm...you can't easily buy heat.

So—buy the big bucks YETI or something.
