  • Picked the peppers this morning, roasted early afternoon, seeded, veined and chopped, then made chili with tomato sauce from last years tomato harvest. And viola! The garden becomes dinner -- farm to table in an afternoon

  • That looks great!
OI notice beans in your chili, will this start a bean vs. no bean knock down drag out fight?

  • If it has beans, its not chili, might be good, but no chili...

  • Here if it has beans, we call it stew.

  • Love the way that recipe looks and sounds!

For us and those that I know, if it has beans then it is chili.  If no beans then it is hot dog chili.

  • Eating chili with no beans is like drinking N/A beer.

  • I'm in the no bean camp too.  Not a fan of the texture.  I will eat them if someone puts them in it, but when I make my own I leave them out.

  • Either way for me is fine if you are eating it as a meal or a side.
If you are putting in on something, such as a hot dog, then no beans.
Don't care what you call it as long as it tastes good.

  • I have to admit, I do use beans when I make chili.  To make matters worse, I use both dark red and light red kidney beans.  I have to say I do love my chili, but understand why the bean line is drawn.  Hahaha.  I guess what is important is we all make and cook what we like!

  • With beans in the summer and not during the winter.  I think Wendy's was the only place that served chili with beans while I lived in Dallas.
