Man, the sports writers are trashing Notre Dame this morning -- "frauds", "should have never been in the playoffs", "lots of teams deserved that 4th spot -- Ohio State, Georgia, UCF -- but not ND".  And frankly, I have to agree with them.

Agreed. Time for ND to get real and join a conference. If they do not & they go undefeated again I think the selection committee would have a hard time choosing them again.
Because of the lopsided games I think the system is broken . . . either that or the two teams that won are playing on a much higher level than those in the rest of the country.

I think the system is very broken and I hope bowl games like this start a re-evaluation process.

I agree.  I also think the top 10 teams should be made to play other top 10 teams a certain amount of games each year.  I know some Alabama fans that would not watch them play against smaller non-ranked teams, because they want to see a decent game and not a slaughter.  The schedules for some teams are way to easy compared to other teams.

I don't know how that would work ruebenray.  Schedules are set 2 and 3 years in advance, way before rankings are known.  And, even if they are known at the start of the year, they change.  For example, when LSU played Auburn this year, Auburn was ranked no. 7.  By the time Alabama played them -- in the same season -- they were unranked.  So, both LSU and Alabama played the same Auburn team in the same year, but LSU received the benefit of playing a top 10 ranked team and Alabama got nothing.

How about that in the off season, you rank every team in the nation using a computer algorithm that considers previous year won/loss, returning starters, ranking, strength of schedule, etc. and require that 4 non-conference dates, two home and two away, be played against teams of equal ranking. Then after the regular season, you rerun the algorithm substituting injuries for returning starters and let the results dictate the playoff/bowl teams.   :2cents:

The Pac12 went 2-1 on the day. :) Both were ugly games (1 point wins).

Funny, what you consider ugly wins Bobitis, I consider great defensive games -- something rarely seen in football anymore!  And two equally matched teams which has been very rare in this bowl season.

A challenge with what some of you are requesting for scheduling is that teams have their schedules locked in for up to 10-20 years in advance with some teams.  The NCAA would have to come out and say all those contracts are cancelled.  It could be devastating to some of the small schools getting paid big $ by the big schools to play them.  Lawsuits will be flying all over the place.

We just need more discussion like this through out the Nation to bring it about and the Rose Bowl type bowls need to get on board or schools with a loosing record play in their game...

If possible this would be the best and easiest way.

Some bad officiating in the LSU-UCF and they seem to be harming LSU more than UCF.

The field is on a "tray" with rollers and it rained last night.  Not sure when they moved the field into the stadium.  I didn't hear any comments on that.
That was a sloppy game and all the other stuff.  Glad they won.   :clap:
