Prime Brisket at Sam's Club
« on: November 28, 2017, 01:42:19 PM »

We hosted the quarterly family birthday party.

I smoked a prime brisket I picked up from the local Sam's Club in Maple Grove MN.  It was the best brisket I have ever cooked.  Pretty much completely gone by the end of the party.

I also made a whole grain mustard BBQ sauce which was a hit as well.

Sam's now has a dedicated "prime" section for beef.  The prime brisket was priced the same as the choice it replaced.

I will likely do another brisket over the upcoming holiday.

Certainly

1 cup of whole grain not ground mustard (picked up a jar at Trader Joes)
1/2 Cup of Gulden's spicy brown mustard
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne

Combine all ingredients and simmer for 20 to 30 min or to desired consistency.

Word to wise, I like pepper and heat.  If you think ketchup is spicy, this isn't for you.  I don't consider this recipe spicy  but my wife newfie family thought it would melt concrete.
