Hello all,

Just wanted to share an update on the the wife.  Last Wednesday she had surgery, she had a mastectomy to her left side and they also removed several lymph nodes as well her ovaries and chemo port in her shoulder.  Was just short of 4 hours of surgery.  The surgeons said that everything went as well as it could have.  She had biopsies of her tissue / lymph nodes they removed and there was a small percent of cancer left from chemo, it was a small percent and considered good for what they found. She was in the hospital for 2 days and is currently home and recovering.  At this point they said she is considered cancer free.  She will have 4 - 6 weeks to recover and start radiation for 6 weeks 5 days a week. Has been a long week since the surgery but we are surviving, I think   :)

Have not had much of a chance to smoke anything this year or get on here much, hoping to so more of each when things calm a little more.  Hope everyoner is doing well and will update again with the next hurdle.  Thanks everyone!

So good to hear.  I pray for your wife and you and your entire family everyday and I hope you all continue the journey with strength and calmness.  I have had friends with the same type of cancer and I know your wife will continue to feel tired and drained for months and months, so I hope you all don't become discouraged.   She has beat a terrible disease and is heading for a hopeful future.  My prayers will be with you all everyday.  Thanks for updating us. I wish we were close enough to smoke something for you!

Thoughts and prayers. I have a friend who had colon cancer, went into remission, came back and he had to have his colon removed. 6 Months later, it has spread to his liver. He had to finally quite his job.  He will probably have to be on chemo the rest of his life. Cancer sucks!!

It works out, Clonesmoker Lothar.  Marcia's mastectomy, lymph node removal, radiation, and all was in 1989.  She's been fine for almost 30 years.

As we see it, the greatest risk now is lymphedema, but that's manageable.

EDIT:  Dumb me.

Yeah , lymphedema is what we have to look out for as well, her potential percentage increased quite a bit with the procedure and radiation coming up.

It's has certainly been a very serious battle thus far, Lothar.
Be comforted with our prayers.
The road from here on out will be much smoother.
