Prime Rib Roast this year.  Just have not decided bone in or boneless yet.

I have not got brave enough yet to try this expensive piece of meat.

Hey reubenray.... First time I made the rib roast, I just trusted my pit and my temps.  Made this bone-in roast earlier in the year, already counting down the days 'til Christmas dinner....

I would be all over that, love rib roast.
Much to my wife's disdain and I'm sure a few others, most of the fat doesn't need to be thrown away either, simply digested.

Probably turkey from Subway.
My family and I are traveling to Maui on Christmas day so our Christmas rib roast will have to wait until January.

the kids are coming home and have requested Ribs....so ribs it will be. along with some crab-meat and shrimp dip on the smoker and as always.... some bottom round jerky!

Our family gathering at my house will be on Christmas eve.
I plan on about six racks of baby backs from Sams.
The rest of the family will brig the sides.

Turkey is kind of traditional here in the UK (as we don't get the Turkey overdose that is Thanksgiving). A couple of my friends are talking about goose, however.

I live on my own, and Christmas for me usually ends up as one of the following.

  • On rare occasions I have been on my own (and actually loved it!); so then I need a modest amount of Christmas fare, but not so much as it will go to waste.
  • Sometime I will be visiting friends for Christmas, but I will still be home for at least some of the holiday, and still need my Turkey fix.
  • Sometimes, I may have one or two guests here for dinner

A company I use a lot for vegetable and meat boxes - really good quality, delivered to the door - do pre-stuffed turkey breast and turkey leg joints. These aren't mass-produced, it is organic produce, hand prepared.

Both joints feed up to 3 people, although I have stretched to 4 before, with lots of additional trimmings, like pigs in blankets.

This year I have at least one confirmed guest, and possibly more - an invite has gone out to several single friends "don't be alone unless you want to".

So I have ordered both a leg and a breast joint. If there ends up to be just two of us, I will cook the leg, and save the breast for after Christmas. If more take up the invite, I'll cook both.

I'll also have my eye open in the supermarkets for a discounted Turkey Crown. For several years I managed to score a bargain on Christmas Eve, but these days the stores aren't closed for long enough for it to be a big issue. But if I get one, that will be going on the smoker on Boxing Day.

Dinner with the in-laws.  MIL is making lasagna.  It's plain ground beef, noodles, some cheese and Prego.   :-X

Christmas Eve will be lobster (28 year tradition) with many great sides and Christmas morning will be rib eyes and eggs.  Nobody seems to mind.
