Want to Help Determine Our Geographic Breakdown Poll?
« on: August 28, 2017, 01:34:09 PM »

So I thought I might do a geographic breakdown of our members.  Before I post it officially, I am going to put my categories out here.  If you think I have things mis-categorized, post here and tell me how you would arrange it.  I may listen to you!  ;D

2.  California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii

3.   Utah, New Mexico, Colorado

4.  North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska

6.  Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana

7.  Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri

8.  Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi

9.  Florida, Georgia, Tennessee

10.  Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio

11.  North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia

12.  Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware

It sorta' looks as though you grouped states by life-style.  I'm okay with that.

Minneapolis/St. Paul dominates Minnesota population-wise and they are New York wannabes so some may object to their inclusion with MI & WI.  There are vast differences in Canadian life style and cuisine so you may consider asking QuadMan750 if/how Canada should be disaggregated.

I wish I was talented enough to group by lifestyles!  I was just looking at a map and it was more a function of how many states I could see kind of grouped together and remember to write down at one time.  That's why some of the groupings may be strange.

I'm from MN, and it doesn't really matter to me how these are broken up.  Most of the time, for geographical purposes,  MN is usually grouped with ND, SD, IA and WI and called the "Upper Midwest."

Just thought I'd share that, use it if you want to.  The current breakdown will work as well!

Just as long as you don't lump California in with Oregon and Washington. [ Invalid Attachment ]

I knew better than to do that.  I think I was stopped and questioned last time I tried to drive into Oregon with my Ca license plates ;D

Thank you for that. However, WA has been over run by Cali, many other states, and has a huge influx of aliens.
Are they all bringing the q knowledge with them? I seriously doubt it. Folks are flocking here for the high tech jobs and all the freebies granted to the 'users'.

All politics aside, the old timers here are sustaining the bbq legend that was well verified in another poll I saw somewhere else.

That said... If ya did lump CA into the PNW (blasphemy), no one else could compete with the numbers. The way I see it is, Cali gives their region a fighting chance.   ::)

I'm OK with group 5.

Previously Michigan was in the grouping with Minnesota.
The only good thing about the St.Paul/Minneapolis area is Memphis Grills manufacturing
and the illustrious ZCZ!

Several years ago I was telling an associate that my niece was visiting for a short spell and that this was her first visit to the states.  He asked where she was from and I said "California".   He was from California. ;)

At 1st I was just thinking of large region's, even like time zones, but that kind of defeats the purpose.  So I figured for the US, 50 states, no brainer 5 to a group.  My experience is when polls get to many choices (I realize it is not that simple), you lose the crowd.
