Davy Crockett and the Wi-Fi set up
« on: January 07, 2018, 01:38:00 PM »

I got my David Crockett the spring, fired up burned it off and put it in my garage waiting to go camping. My question is  with the Wi-Fi setting the temperature off my phone, has any one had problems?  :(

Use the Wi-Fi on.my DB all the time,  Nary a problem. If you use it camping,  your best bet would be to set it on the gmg network and attach your phone. Will work flawlessly that way.   I use an old tablet so as not to tie up my phone.

Happy Smoking!

Why wait for camping? The DC is one mean little cooker. Have used mine pretty much as the go to pit for the last 3 1/2 years. Have fun with it! Get to know it so when you do go camping you'll be familiar with its qualities.

I have got to go look at one of these!  I really enjoy my DB and am trying to justify a DC.

I have a new one and I have trouble with it "going to sleep mode" and then my phone has to refind it. I talked to GMG and they told me a few things to try but admittedly haven't yet. I have used it plenty though without the wi-fi and like it.

If you can find a good deal on one, GET IT.  The DC was my first pellet grill, followed by the JB.  It's just the two of us, and it gets the call 95% of the time, as there's plenty of room if you are cooking for two, and it is VERY economical on pellets.  I've cooked many pork shoulders, Prime Rib Roasts, Pork Loins, Steaks (the DC goes up to 550°), brisket, chicken, etc. etc. etc.  the list goes on and on.  It easily cooks as well as my JB, maybe better!

I've never had any problems with my DB wifi.  I know it's comparing apples and oranges, though.  The best thing to do IMO is start using it and see what it does.
