Foiling Two Piece Drip Trays on DB?
« on: July 07, 2018, 07:46:50 AM »

I have the two piece drip trays with the holes in them.   I am thinking about using foil to help with the cleanup after doing 25 pounds of pork butt.  On my Traeger Junior I had a single tray and I foiled it.  How is this done with the GMG two piece tray.  Below are some questions.

1)  What do you do with the holes?
2)  How does this affect the heat/smoking?
3)  Do you also foil when the holes are aligned for grilling?
4)  Do you foil both trays?

1. Cover Holes with Foil, if grilling don't use foil
2. didn't seem to have any effect as long as your not grilling with the foil on
3. If i'm grilling no foil
4. only foil the top tray

Hope that helps

I still use both, but foil each seperately

I have never used the top tray. I always foil the bottom one. I put on 4-5 layers of foil and remove one after 2-3 cooks depending on the cook.
