Smoking Temperature Question

I have a quick question for you guys here.  I just got my Blaz'n Grill Works Grid Iron a few weeks ago and it's my first pellet grill/smoker.  So far, I've been having good results smoking for the first hour or two at 180 degrees, then raising the temperature to a more "standard" cook temperature for a nice smoke flavor.  My question is, is there any kind of rough equivalence that anyone has figured out such as, 2 hours at 180 is equivalent to 1-1/2 hours at 225? 

I was planning on doing some ribs this week (probably a rack 3-2-1 and a rack naked to further test my new Grid Iron) and was wondering if I set the first 2 hours at 180, how it will affect the smoke time.

Although I don't have the answer you are looking for, I'd say you are headed down the right path my experimenting and truly getting to know your pit and preferences.

So far, I've just assumed it'd be close to a 2:1.5 ratio.

If I ever want to get truly scientific, I can map out 3 identical roasts at 180, 225 and 250 degrees. 

Or even better, I should stop over-thinking it.

 Cooking should be simple and enjoyable - IMO.

 Pork ribs are generally slow cooked/smoked somewhere around 250º .  Then there is fast or turbo cooking, 300º to 325º, and claimed to be just as good.

 Personally, I do my ribs @ 230º for ~ 5Hrs. They end up properly cooked: pass the bend test and are shrunk back on the bone..They are not falling off the bone/overdone.

 Just go simple @ first and see how it goes.
