I was gonna PM him, but thought I'd throw it here instead.
I feel yer pain Hughver. Not 'personally', but personally.
Mom had polio as a child in the late 20's.The disease left her with one leg shorter than the other. Hobbling around like that her entire life took its toll on her back. The pain eventually became unbearable, and her Dr's decided to have her undergo surgery and have 'Harrington rods' installed on her spine.
The surgery was a success. For a while...
Harrington rods are stainless steel rods that are inserted on both sides of the spine, and secured by stainless screws. The effect is that the rods help straighten out the spine. The affect was, it limited mobility in bending and twisting of the torso.
After some years, the screws started backing out and all heck broke loose. In the end, they decided to remove the rods and let the chips fall where they may. There was no way Mom was going thru that again.
During the process (years if not decades), she had many Dr.'s for many reasons. They didn't communicate well when it came to he medications. At one time, we thought she was getting dementia (Alzheimers). The family came over to our house for a holiday and she commented on what a lovely old Singer pedal sewing machine we had. It belonged to my Great Aunt Winnie, and Mom's Dad had repaired the broken pedal. Mom handed it down to me.
How could she not know this?
I was devastated. This just wasn't right. How does one go from lucid to demented in such a short time? Didn't make sense. I talked to her husband (my Step Dad) and the Dr's finally put things together. It took about 6 months, but she was back to normal (for that age). Meanwhile, the pain persisted. It seemed that there was no way to get meds to work together for her circumstances.
Enter the acupuncturist... One of her Dr's said 'try it', and she did. The results were phenomenal. I kid you not. I've only seen my Mom cry a few times in her life, and one was when her acupuncture Dr. retired.
So that's enough then...
Hughver... check it out. Old Chinese medicine has been around for some time. Chiropractors? Not so much.
Get well my friend!
