First Country Style Ribs...Yummmm...
« on: October 21, 2018, 08:53:40 PM »

Well, I finally got around to smoking some country style Ribs on the MAK.  I had no idea how good they were or I'd have tried them sooner!  I cooked them pretty much like ribs, only at the end, I probed for tenderness.
They eat like little rib steaks...so meaty, fatty and moist.  To me, they are like a cross between pork ribs and a chuck roast.  I really do think I like these better than ribs.  Thanks so much to you guys who went before me and showed me how to.  Please take a look...

You knocked the cover off of that ball.

Country style are Marcia's favorite.  I kinda prefer St. Louis trimmed 'cause I can eat them with my fingers, smear my face, let everything run down my forearm and play the roll of tyrant king.  She makes disparaging comments when I call out, "Bring on the fool!"

My father hated ribs.  I guess he just thought they were to messy to eat, cause I don't think it had anything to do with flavor, or texture.   But he'd make country ribs on his grill.

I myself have mixed feelings about them... they certainly aren't ribs..    but they do taste good, and are often probably half the price of ribs.

Anyway, I may have to buy me some soon, it's been a while since I cooked any.

You can probably make your own country style ribs for a lot less money buying a pork shoulder, removing the bone, and cutting into slices which is exactly what they do at the store where you are buying country style ribs from.

I don't know.  I forgot the #, but the package was $7.  Pretty reasonable.

thanks all for the props.  First time, so I got help from. forums for sure.  Butts I do by temp, ribs I go by pullback, but these I did by bark, temp and probe.  It all worked out though, so I'm happy.

I'm guessing they were $1.00-$1.50 per pound more.  I do the same thing you did and buy them already cut because I'm too lazy to do it myself.
