Lottie is home with us. She is already house trained, knows sit and down (both verbal and hand cue) and I am told she sleeps through the night -- and she is playful and sweet!!! She has been exploring outside and in. Like Dozer, she seems to have a thing for those corn cobs!

She does look sweet.  Of course, I don't know her body language and facial expressions as well as you, but in the photo—to me she looks frightened, or at the least, ill at ease.

I don't know her at all only having met her once a month ago for 30 minutes. She could have been either, she had only been at home with us about 40 minutes at that point.

I've reconsidered...sad face.

She'll bond with you and get over that.

I've experienced the same feelings when talking to Bentley about my turn-in scores.

On our walk this morning.  I think she was saying "Is this as fast as you can go old lady?" :pig:

To my eye, she doesn't appear happy here, either (tail, hips and ear attitude).  I wonder if it's the camera or cell phone that disturbs her.

Well, I am very bad with the camera and have to take 2 and 3 pics just to get a quasi decent one so she may get tired of me.  I know nothing of reading dogs, but she seems happy.  She wants to play and jump and run around. A lot of time her tail is wagging when we walk. She wants to be with me all the time and is napping at my feet right now.  Is this one any better? :pig:

Yeah, much better.   :)

I only know how to "read" my dogs' body language.  Lottie may display in significantly different ways.  And she may have a fleeting attitude that you record.

Don't take what I wrote too seriously.

Some sad news for us -- our little Miss Lottie is leaving us tonight to go to her new home in the Richmond region. Due to various factors, it worked out best for her to go to another raiser who just sent her dog to its IFT. I will get another puppy in a couple of weeks. We have only had her 5 days, so not a huge trauma, but she is smart and playful and sweet, so it is a loss. I know her future is bright!

Difficult for you and Lottie even though it's for the best.

Yes, I am sorry to see her go.  It is hard when some folks can only take a pup who is fully house trained because they take the pup to work and it always seems my puppy is the only one that fits that description.  This may be the last time, though, that I take one for the team and try to do what is best to maximize the number of folks who can raise in the area.  It gets a little emotionally tiring when you are given to understand the puppy will be yours for the next 14 months and then 4 days later you are told that things changed and a person who just sent their dog up and wanted a break from raising has changed their mind and now wants to raise again right away.  OK, whine over!
