Yes. Sorry about that. It has been a very long time since I've been here. And I have never navigated it through my phone. Because the replies were on a new page on the other thread I did not see them at first. So then I posted here.
Anyways. It looks like everybody is very happy with the fireboard. However I still have not gotten an answer with regards to how long the probes last.
IMO, probe life is highly dependent upon how you use them, clean them, and store them. I haven't had a Fireboard probe fail yet, but I've probably only used them 20-25 times. I have their storage thing, so my cords do not get wrapped up with sharp bends and I'm super careful when I wash them not to get anything past the probe itself wet - I may run a slightly damp paper towel across the braided cable every now and then to remove some smoke/soot.
The only probes I've ever had fail are Maverick probes and that was mostly because someone else washed them before I could take care of them myself and got the cords and where they connect to the probe all wet. Now that I've said this...every probe I have will probably fail next time I use them.
The Fireboard is great. I'd use is every cook if my Memphis didn't have a pretty good setup itself with probes and alerts. I do use my Fireboard if I'm cooking a lot of food, any overnight cooks and with anything I worry might cause a grease fire. I haven't tried the Thermoworks stuff, but have had a couple Mavericks and built a Heatermeter. Fireboard is a ton better. Pretty nice probes, great software and superb support. I was a Kickstarter backer and one of the firmware/app updates didn't take after I didn't use it for an extended time and their support worked extensively with me to help me get it updated manually and going again. I've considered buying their control box and fan setup to have my Weber available as a backup if my pellet grill were every to have an issue requiring a wait to fix.
