Math Help...
« on: March 12, 2019, 05:45:01 PM »

So since I can't do advanced (for me) math, and a cord of wood is 4' X 8' by 4 feet high.

This area is 8' X 32' and will be 4 feet high.  The closest I can get is a cord of wood should be 128 cubic feet and the area of this space is 1,024, so it should hold 8 cords.  Is my logic sound?

Yes!  And for the 1st time since the Winter of 2013-14, we were not able to cut one tree because of the rain and dampness of the area!  So I need to get out there and shed about 50!

Just think every foot high is 2 cords. So go 5 ft high and you have 10 cords

I think :help:

Might be able to go 5!  The width is actually about 8.5 feet, but I can never get a nice rectangular cord.  We don't have any seasoned wood.  The stuff in those piles is still pretty green, and it appears we will have fires till the end of March at least and we have no other processed wood.  28° for a low tonight, so Spring is not here at night yet!  But in 2 nights the overnight low id 59°, so again, I don't get it!  It worries me, cuz even if we can start cutting and splitting say in 2 weeks, how seasoned is wood going to be by November?  In 6 cutting seasons have never got to a point where I was burning seasoned wood.  Gonna have to man up and work through the Humidity!

Burning wood will warm you, give you exercise, and heat both the house and family..
1) Cutting it
2) Hauling it
3) Unload it
4) Split it
5) Stack it
6) Carry it in to burn..

Beyond that, I still love a wood fire..  Nothing better on a cold night(with certain exceptions ;D)..
