Father/Daughter date night
« on: April 05, 2019, 10:52:00 PM »

Son had away games tonight and we decided not to make my daughter trudge along in her cast for the entire evening, so her and I had date night. I asked her if she wanted to go out or for me to cook. Her response, “Can we have steak?”

I’ve been thinking I need some homemade sauces besides BBQ, so picked up some fresh parsley and garlic and made my first ever chimichurri sauce.

Finally, what’s the perfect side to make a 12 year old girl’s night. Makes sense with a bone in ribeye and homemade chimichurri, right? (I hate to admit it, but I like it too). We finished off the night watching Ralph Breaks the Internet. I’ll remember this night for a while.

Special moments are remembered by kids for decades --  and it is the time together which makes it special and the fact that you listen to what she wanted.  As others have said, nicely done!

I've had a few nights like that myself.  And it's always the same request when she's asked what she wants to do for supper.  Steak is our go to meal.  And she likes it with mac and cheese also.  She's 15 now and we still have them, so Glitchy you have at least a few years of enjoyment.  Well done!!

I dislike mac and cheese!! Repeat dislike it. Grew up on the Kraft Mac and Cheese served with hot dogs  :puke: :puke:. Over the years I have avoided mac and cheese almost as bad as raw bananas. I've taken a little bit of liking to mac and cheese but it has corn in it. I just like that sweet corn taste in it.

We went on a party bus last Friday and went to a new pizza place in the area with a Chinese flair. Crab Rangoon is there specialty. Friday during lent at a pizza place is not what I call the place to eat. They also had an egg roll pizza but that was out for me. The thing that caught my eye was a mac and cheese pizza. I'll try anything once (along with a mushroom and spicy sauce pizza, which was excellent!), I was pleasantly surprised with it. Still won't go with the Kraft stuff though. Just my mac and cheese rant.... carry on.

Fong’s? Or something closer to Ames? I’ve wanted to try crab rangoon at Fong’s for a while, but my family would never touch it, so have never even gone into the place.

I didn’t add...my daughter is pretty picky, but I told her she had to try just one bite with the chimichurri, every bite after that was drug through what I put on the side of her plate ;)
