There is a cookbook called buttermilk and bourbon by a New Orleans chef.  I do not own it only saw it on Barnes and Nobles

Explain the buttermilk and cornbread thing.  Is buttermilk an ingredient in the cornbread batter?  Sounds like drinking a glass of buttermilk with cornbread in it is what's being mentioned.

Buttermilk is part of the cornbread batter, it add flavor and lift while cooking.  Left over cornbread with milk or buttermilk was a common breakfast item when I was growing up.  Waste not want not.

Hugh, I used to get the Creole cream cheese ice cream at K&B drug stores.  They were sold to Rite Aid in the late 90's I think. I have been gone for 30 years.  I did visit often until Katrina, she ruined everything.

Use the cornbread like cereal with the buttermilk.
Salt, pepper.
Only thing that makes it better is dice some soon to be in season Vidalia onions!
Love it
