What do you call it?
« on: May 03, 2019, 06:19:36 PM »

In LA area, Highland Park to be specific, I saw that they were grilled on a flat top and called a Sonoran Dog.  I saw them on the menu at QN4U in Clovis and the were called a Tommy Twister, but I am not sure if they were deep fried.  Have you all seen this dog, and if so, what was it called?  I had it with just a touch of hot sweet mustard, but to me it cries for all the fixins you would put on a Chicago Dog!

Looks like it would fit perfectly into your abdominal aorta.  I like em with chili and onions, relish.  Sometimes with just craut and mustard.

There's a fairly new condiment, Slawsa, that would really dress that.

Here in SF it's Mission Dogs. Lived in Indiana for 15 years, they put some god stuff on dogs! Search "Hoosier Hot Dog"

Looks interesting.  I would like to try one.  My favorite in kraut, jalapeno mustard, and a pickle spear.

Sonoran dog in Phoenix, served with mayo and a thin version of refried beans in addition to the onions, cheese etc. I wasn’t sold initially, ordered a 2nd one. These are cooked in a wok style pan about 30” across.

I’ve only seen them sold by street vendors in Tijuana at 3am. It looks perfect. Not sure of the name. So I’ve always thought of them as Tijuana dogs.

I second the comment above about a condiment called Slawsa. It’s so good. I love it on dogs and sausages.

In Tijuana they are made with real dogs! But not to worry, they always cook them "well done".

Lookin' good.  Will have to try those.  Bacon wrapped anything is usually pretty good.  Can't go wrong with bacon.
