Mr. Bent,
It's hard to screw up a burger.

What causes your grill marks?
 Is it from the burning of the burgs on the hot grids?
 Or is it food scraped up from previous cooks?

It is the way to hot grills!  So hot, all the seasoning sticks on the turn!

Unless it is all dried up, it is difficult to mess a burger up.

 I saw smashburgers mentioned. I found some ground chuck in the freezer and thawed for saturday, once thawed it was very wet almost soupy. I figure it was from when they ground it and had used ice or water which helped with the grind and the profit margin, not sure where I got it but I think it may have been one of the 10 pound tubes from Gordon Foods and we broke it down and sealed up to freeze.
 
 I dumped both packs into a SS bowl and just decide to use the blackstone griddle as I didn't figure they would stay together  on a normal cooking grate. I just took a smallish handful put on the hot griddle and flattened it out with the turner seasoned cooked and flipped and seasoned then cheesed. They were not bad, had a crust not a charbroiled taste. I am still a fan of the 10 to 12 oz burgers thick and juicy. Those that ate them liked them and i would make them again and would like to go get some fresh ground from the little meat place I go to.

 Be interesting to see your results of the blind test.

Yeah, will try that next weekend when we are back to one dog.  Will need to make sure seasoning is exact on all 3 and temperature is within -+2° on each pattie.  Was gonna buy some lump today, but smallest bag was $16 and 20 lbs and I was not having any of that!

Lump burns hotter and produces less ash, but the primary benefit is that you can snuff it out and relight it for the next cook.  I don't think lump vs. briquettes is important in your burger test.

Don't you know what dumpsters are for?
Most of us have thrown away grills the were in four times better condition.

Yeah.  Kamado users do it all the time.

Even before I went Kamado, my Weber kettles would do a fairly decent job of snuffing out the fires.  Not nearly as good as my KJ's though.

I have not bought anything but pellet units since 1991, that was left buy a tenant and was free too!

There is a place for everything. I am still planning on cooking my next turkey on my Weber grill. I like the way they turn out. If I want a bit more smokey flavor then I will throw in a smoker tube or put a hunk of wood in there.
