Good looking pudd there Queball.  Very traditional Christmas dessert for those of English descent.  Maybe our British and Aussie members will advise, but don't the English pour a flaming brandy sauce over it and "set it on fire"?

Queball, you perk up my day with your posts.  They go well with my morning coffee.  Just do one a day so they continue longer.

One-A-Day, one of the best trade names, along with Hyster Forklifts.

I can't say about setting it on fire. .... Didn't in the recipe I used ....... This was excellent, BUT, flaming brandy sauce? .... as Keith Urban sings "Baby I'm In! ... I'm In!" The brandy would be a nice compliment to the ginger "once the fire goes out".

If you did flambé the cake slices, you'd have to use oven proof plates wouldn't you?

I think the Brits flambe the whole cake and then serve slices after the flames have burned off.

I don't like sweets all that much, but I have to say the different flavors in your cake certainly make it inviting

This would be perfect for our yearly New Year's Eve party!
