Best Food Truck Award
« on: July 01, 2019, 05:53:26 PM »

Bragging a little bit.  Hope this is allowed.  My younger brother just won an award for Best Food Truck in the Lehigh Valley, PA area and had his pic in this month's magazine.  He recently fought off colon cancer and made it through the surgery without a need for any additional treatment.  He started up his business about 6-8 weeks later than normal this year due to the unplanned surgery he had at the beginning of May.  He is now in his 8th year in business and growing year after year.

It's always a good day when you can kick cancer to the curb!!  And if I ever get east of the Continental Divide, I'll be sure and stop and try his BBQ.

A great story.  Looks like he is happy winner.   Does he cook BBQ in his truck or at home?

He has a stick burner on the back of the trailer with 3 racks that rotate on it and a warming box on the left side.  He found a great deal on a Southern Pride a few months back that has 2x the capacity of the one on the trailer.  He has had both of them pretty well filled up the last few weekends that he has been open before this article was even published.  Should be super busy this weekend.  I know he cooked 30 butts on Sunday to pull today to work a little ahead for the weekend while before his helper went on vacation tomorrow.  Thanks for all of the kind compliments.

Awesome job on 2 fronts. He has every reason to be proud and thankful. Nicely done. With the huge popularity of food trucks that is really saying something.

That is great news on the cancer and the rig plus the smoker look fantastic.  If I saw that rig/smoker I would have to stop for some food for sure.

Congrats to your brother on his two big wins.  Does he publish a schedule of where he will be parked in advance?  I am in Jersey, and real close to the Lehigh Valley.  If I knew where he would be, I would make the drive out to sample his grub!

I think during the summer he is at Newhard Farms 3250 Mauch Chunk Rd, Coplay, PA 18037

Our company is a roadside barbecue concession and catering business set up Thursday-Sunday next to the  Newhard Farms Corn Shed, locally known for the BEST sweet corn in the area.  We are located there seasonally from late April through mid November, with our catering business in full force all year
