I recently went to Scott's BBQ in Charleston and loved it. It was great BBQ in my opinion. I would love to go to the one in Hemingway, South Carolina one day. My family is from Eastern NC where whole hog is king so this is what I grew up on.
Where in eastern NC? I grew up in Chapel Hill and live in Raleigh.
Pretty much everything east of Raleigh. Areas like Kinston, New Bern, Ayden (Skylight Inn BBQ), Greenville, Carolina Beach, etc.
Since you live in Raleigh, have you checked out Nahunta Pork Center? They have an outlet at the Farmers Market. Their main store is in Pikeville. All fresh pork products. I used to live in Raleigh.
I love Nahunta. I work/live close enough to visit the Farmers Market every few weeks. I’ve been to the main store a few times. I’m blown away every time. Picked up that pork belly with ribs attached that I posted awhile back.
I think once I visit there again, my next endeavor will be a 1/4 pig. It’s pretty much just like it sounds. A front quarter of the pig that includes the full shoulder (with butt), ribs, and belly. Skin on. It will fit nicely on my pellet grill.
For the others that are not familiar. As Triplebq said, Nahunta is a pork center. It is a pig farm with a large butchery on site. They have all things pork...fresh, cooked, and cured.
I’d guess it’s about the size of a Walgreens if you include front and back of the house.
