Freezin gravy for future use
« on: October 23, 2019, 04:00:54 AM »

Been freezing batches of Smoked Turkey dripping gravy and brisket gravy for years. Vacuum sealed to remain good long long time.

Gravy can be thickened with flour or corn starch. If going to be frozen must use flour or after freezing then defrosting will loose it's thickness completely.

This is gravy I made yesterday from this weekend's brisket. Put in silicon jumbo muffin pans to freeze. They hold about 10oz each.

After freezing they pop out easily to vacuum seal and return to the freezer.

The end. :P

That's a great idea!  I've been trying to think of a way to vacuum pack/freeze soup.  A larger silicone container might be the answer.

It is, it would work for soup, chili etc. Thanks for the tip.

I appreciate the heads up, especially when it comes to corn starch vs. flour. I did not know that!

I didn't either and used to thicken my Turkey gravy with cornstarch. Found out freezing it the hard way!
