Hip replacement surgery
« on: October 23, 2019, 03:40:25 PM »

HI all, Anyone have there Hip replaced? Three weeks ago I had my Left hip replaced.  Big Time OUCH!!!

If you have had yours done? What time frame did most of the pain go away? I have had major back surgeries that were much better than this. Also how long before you could walk without assistance? Person, Walker, or Cane? I am finally able to get out of bed without a strap and other help. The muscles are in terrible shock. LOL!! They spasm all the time. The doctors won't give me anything for pain or the spasms? The new laws have really changed the med stuff. I had meds for the first week then nothing. They suggest Tylenol, sorry that won't touch this at all. :)

Needless to say there has been no Que going on at my house.  :(

I also have limited access to my computer as I can now for a short time get to it on a limited basis. It has been great catching up on reading every ones going ons. :)

Take care ,
Mike

Gee whiz!  What an awful ordeal, Mike.  I'm shocked at the med restrictions.  The surgeon who did my last two back operations just prescribed a fairly strong muscle relaxant from a telephone conversation.

If you don't mind, I'll put you in my prayers.

Boy that doesn't sound like fun at all. Sure sorry you are having trouble.
Nothing like that in our house (yet) but my wife did have a new knee and she had a heck of a time for about a month.
They did take good care of her with the pain meds though. That just isn't right that they restrict them for something so legitimate.
Take care and hoping for a speedier recovery from here on out.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Fortunately I haven't had to experience that, yet...

Sorry to hear about your surgery, but if its any consolation, I've been told that hip replacement is the easiest of all replacement surgeries and has the highest success rate.

Thank you everyone for the support and prayers.
I had back surgery last year and meds were not a problem. Now evidently some law changes and BOOM!! Doctors are hindered or reluctant to prescribe narcotics of any kind. My oncologist/hematologist said that she now has to do 4 or 5 pages of paper work every week for each her Stage 4 Cancer patients so they can have pain meds. So that is part of my problem. I am having a lot of muscle spasms, so I will be seeing my Primary doctor to get at minimum some muscle relaxers to help with that. I did get my bandage off today so I can now take a REAL shower. LOL!! I am looking forward to that. :) Hopefully soon, I will be on track to move around more freely.

Sorry about the med situation, though. That has to be a real xxxx.

I competed with a couple of our national team archers who were only a few months out from hip replacements. They did great on a hilly course. My wife had two knee replacements and recovered pretty quickly. It is progressive but the new knees during recovery became better than the old ones prior to surgery. We were told that knees were a much more difficult recovery than hips. You should do well. Just do the exercises. I was climbing a few weeks ago with a guy who had hip replacement. He was kicking my butt, and he looked older than me.
