I know this is as far away one can get from pellet cooking however due to circumstances beyond my control I am now in the market for a new on.  I decided to ask you all as many of you probably have one and have an opinion on them.  I am looking strictly for a gas one.

I know my wife switched from gas to electric as she never emptied the gas and had problems starting it every year.  She uses it primarily to clean the underdeck of the riding mower and to clean my grill grates and drip pans.

I have a gas pressure washer that I purchased from Sam's Club years ago. I use it all the time and it works great. I believe I paid about $350 or so. It has a tank where I can add cleaner fluid which is nice.

I had the same issue with mine, but since I started adding STA-BIL have not had a problem.

I bought a ridgid (Generac) 3600 Pro.
I think I paid about $600.00 for it though. It is a beast and I have had it for 3 years or so and it has never given me any troubles, I also put Stabil in everything gas around the house.
More than I wanted to spend but glad I did in hindsight.

Bought this in July 2011, PowerBOSS 2600 PSI (Gas - Cold Water) Pressure Washer w/ Honda Engine.   Has been great, but went to use it in April on the Tractor and it had trouble creating pressure.  Engine still works great.  I believe the seals might have gone bad but have not had it looked at since.  It has been a good unit.  I would by it again...but...I see it has been discontinued.  My life story!

I am betting the pump is not brand specific, you probably can quite easily buy a seal kit and get it going again pretty easy.
Just make sure and use some type of pump grease when reinstalling the parts (if you do rebuild) is so there is no run dry time.
The pump grease won't harm the seals either, some lubricants will eat away the rubber.

Don't trust the bypass valves on the gasoline powered pumps.  When the engine is running the pump wants to pump water.  If you release the wand lever with the engine running the pump will overheat and burn out.

Don't believe it when power washer manufacturers claim that their model adequately releases that pressure.  The best plan is to shut off the gasoline engine as fast as you can when you stop spraying water.

This cautionary statement doesn't apply to the many electric power washers that stop the electric motor when the wand lever is released.

EDIT:  Also, don't run hot water through the pumps, gasoline or electric.

I've had a Hotsy washer with an attached water heater and an 8-gallon per minute trailer-mounted hot water unit that had enough pressure to cut a 2×4 in half.  I currently have a Generic variable-pressure unit.  I've read the statistics on countless units that are on display in stores.

Most—

• Run a bit dry.  That is, they make pressure but don't flow much water.  In most cleaning jobs the water volume is more important than the pressure behind it.
• Are worth their prices.

Many power washer owners damage the surfaces they are trying to clean by using too much pressure and/or the wrong nozzle.

I am in the need of one also.  The electric one I bought about six years ago died.  Our Walmart here sells ethanol free gas and that is all I use in my lawn stuff now.  Ethanol absorbs water and does bad things to carburetors.  Never had a problem with anything since I started using it.

you should not use ethanol in any of your appliances! not only does it attract water, it also rots the plastic gas lines used on most of them. takes while but happens eventually.  easy to find 100% gas now.  I also prefer it in my autos even though 30 cents higher. I realize that autos now have metal lines and are protected.  The added alcohol does not give you good mileage therefore you burn more ethanol, thus putting out probably as much pollution as if you burned 100% gas. (I will get the data).  A lot of corn farmers depend on this market --another government fiasco IMO. Just looked it up,--ethanol produces 96-97% of 100% gasoline mileage. But I prefer it anyhow.

On the gas thought, I was told years ago to use premium and have ever since, I have been told by others that it’s stupid but I have never had a problem. I only use it in yard equipment and my 2 stroke boat, not cars, the way I look at it based on how much I use them, it might cost a little more but It has probably saved me repair wise and they start every spring.

I bought a Ridgid about 9 years ago.  Pump seals gave up the ghost about 3 years ago and had to replace the pump with one I bought on Amazon.  It was a direct bolt on but the tank mounted to the frame for solvent distribution interfered with it some.  Heated up the tank with a heat gun and pushed it in a smidge and all was good.  Has a Subaru motor and a new pump and works like a champ.  Believe the new Ridgids come with a Cat pump and they don't get much better than a Cat.
