Need New Food Processor.
« on: December 24, 2019, 03:15:36 PM »

Some of you may not have been born when this was purchased.  It served my mother & father well, and has done well by us, but alas 35-40? years maybe asking to much.

So we are looking for new.  Recommendations are needed.  What are the models you all use, and are you happy with them?

I have the exact same processor that has been serving me well for more years than I can remember. If mine were to go belly up, I'd replace it with the same model.  :2cents:

by Cuisinart it was on sale for $99.99.  They go on sale frequently.

Saw reviews on a site that conducts testing saying that Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY is the best value.  I am surprised that there are only 2 slicing wheels. Same as what we have now.  I would have assumed we had progressed beyond that, but I guess that is what a mandolin is for.

What do you have besides the slicer, and the grater (little hole one for KFC looking cole slaw) for lack of a better description?

It works well and game with many different accessory blades.

I think I scored the same deal as ofelles. I’ve only used it a couple times, but seems nice. I’ve never had a food processor or a blender worth a xxxx, so still learning what to use it for.

We have a Kitchenaid with about 5-6 assorted blades and it's served us quite nicely for about 20+ years and of course it had to be red. (SWMBO) favorite color.

I have had my kitchen aid for years and it has worked well for me.  However, I doubt you could go wrong with either brand

I got many years of good service from a Cuisinart, but ended up replacing it with a Kitchenaid which I got at a kitchen outlet store. We went with the Kitchenaid due to its high ratings. I think both are good. By the way, my Cuisinart looks identical to yours.

I've had this one for a few years.  I think it's probably a newer vintage of yours.

https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Cuisinart+food+processor+Videos+How-To&&view=detail&mid=6B25461BD093D87F01246B25461BD093D87F0124&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3DCuisinart%2Bfood%2Bprocessor%2BVideos%2BHow-To%26go%3DSearch%26qs%3Dn%26form%3DQBVR%26sp%3D-1%26pq%3Dcuisinart%2Bfood%2Bprocessor%2Bvideos%2Bhow-to%26sc%3D2-38%26sk%3D%26cvid%3D48AEA7521D474D18AB140F3F9A2C7B04

I don't dislike it but I'm not comfortable using it.  It's a little too violent for me.  Slicing vegetables is like an explosion.

EDIT:  Added video link.
I have the same model as you. It's a dynamo and should last for many years. I hope my kids fight over it when I'm gone! It's that durable.

I agree that it can seem aggressive. My wife uses it for making dough, so I chose the most powerful model I could find. I sort of got used to its torque after using it a while.

Bent,
I honestly don't know, I don't really use it. It was a present for my wife two Christmases ago and she loves it. I believe it came with the regular chopping blade that spins in the bottom. A grater blade like you said (cole slaw blade), a slicing blade, and then a plastic mixing blade. I will take a look when home. It also came with a little storage box for storage said accessories. I prefer to buy as many things as I can from Costco simply because of the no hassle and no questions asked return policy.

We had a cheap Walmart special we wore out, ended up with a Costco Cuisinart model..  Have been pleased with it, along with Costco's no hassle return policy if needed..

So far..
