10 years ago today
« on: January 01, 2020, 11:55:30 AM »

It was 10 years ago today when I made my first pellet grill cook. I was working for Hearthland Products in helping engineer the Memphis line of grills. I had taken a Memphis Advantage home for cold weather testing. This was in the day when they were still painted. My first cook was a whole turkey cooked with apple pellets. The AM temp when I fired it up was -14. High of the day I think was -5. Turkey turned out great. I think this was also about the time when they sent a stainless Pro to Bentley for testing.
Has been a great ride ever since.

Hey!  Give them my address - if they're sending Memphis pits out for end-user product testing.

Fond memories of a decade past Alan.  You and Memphis have done a super job.  I love my Pro.

I know the Memphis Pro was the 2nd unit tested.  I did the GMG DB in Dec 2009, was probably just a few months after that we got the Pro, just can't remember the exact month.  We would all meet at the Royal in 10 months for our 15 minutes of Fame!

When you heading to CA?

Hope to head out this spring yet. My last day at work is this Friday. Has been a good ride but I am ready. I only worked for Memphis Grills for about another year or so (mid 2011). I was originally hired by the parent company Dalsin Industries for Sales and Estimating/Account Manager and they moved me back into that roll where I have been since. Please don’t PM me for service questions as there have been many changes since I worked on them. Best to call their great support team at the 800 number in your manual.
Happy cooking!

Congratulations on your retirement!  The day I got to drive through the gate at the station for the last time was a great day.  Felt like a HUGE weight had been taken off my shoulders.  It sure is nice to do things on your own schedule and you'll enjoy it!

You're going to love it.  But you won't have the idle time that you think is coming.  At least that's been the story for my 23 years of retirement.

It's only been 4+ for me and PMillen is right.  But we have a 16 year old daughter and 15 year old niece who lives with us.
