A member is sending a 12 inch Grizzly Cast Iron Skillet to be product tested by PelletFans.  Here is the company's website:  https://www.grizzlycookware.com/

Members, are there any questions which you would like answered in this Product test?  Are there any foods you would like to see cooked?  I plan to do cornbread (Johnny cake style), biscuits, Ina Garten's Lemon Skillet Roasted Chicken and a pineapple upside down cake.  Anything else you would like to see us cook in this skillet? If so, please specify if you want it cooked on the Memphis Pro, the oven, or cooktop.

 I just love cast iron cookware. Whatever you cook, I would be interested in how the  cooked food releases with the nickel finish. The cornbread, biscuits shouldn't be a problem for any new skillet.

 As far as to the heat source, it doesn't matter to me. Stove top/oven would be easier to work with and do inside unless you want to wait for warmer temps. I don't believe the cast iron will care.

 Frying an egg is always a good test for sticking. Perhaps when new then after a few  cooks when seasoning has built up.

 As well, how will the skillet be cleaned after use? Just hot water and a brush or? Will it be heated and oiled after cleaning? If so the detail.

It appears to me, from reading the manufacturer's information, that the Grizzly pans don't require seasoning like normal cast iron.  I'm thinking that the nickel prevents rust and that the cast iron/nickel pan should be treated like a stainless steel pan—cook something and clean it up with soap and water.

I am looking forward to the review because I have been wanting a new 12 in. skillet
Fry some eggs in it  that will give it a good test.

Not exactly something to test, but I wonder how that works for people who are sensitive to nickel. My wife and son both get rashes from jewelry as well as the back of snaps on clothing.

Hi Kristin.  I do not know the temp, but I like to use my gasser side burner outside.  I put my CI on the burner for 5 or more minutes to get it really hot, a small dash of Ghee which withstands more heat than regular butter, and after taking off the RT, sear on either side for a minute or so.  The CI pan is really hot at that point.  I thought most non-stick surfaces are not made for that type of real high heat.
