Am I using Coronavirus as an excuse to cook ???
« on: March 16, 2020, 02:19:28 PM »

My neighbor buys BBQ from me and gives it to friends of theirs. With people staying away from crowds they came down to buy some meatloaf from me. Well he cleaned out my meatloaf stash. So that means fire up the smoker to restock ;D

Post with Recipe:  https://pelletfan.com/index.php?topic=498.msg4422#msg4422

The cook has begun

Waiting for the smoker to warm up.

Onto the pit.

Do you freeze them after making?

Another couple of questions, in the recipe, it starts with cooking bacon but no where that I can find does it get added to the meat mixture. In Quadman750's transcription, the ingredients get added but bacon is not listed in the ingredients. Do you drape bacon over the top during cooking and do you leave it on when freezing?

A pre-order, drive by, never get out of your car bbq business might do very well right now!

I just add the bacon when I mix all the ingredients. I have cooked it with and without bacon draped over the meatloaf. I have even added real bacon bits that you can buy from the grocery store.

Did not meet the criteria for the section it was posted in.  Might be good to review the guideline at the top of all those sections!  Members need to start thinking tutorial, not just here is what I cook!

Maybe good for all Members who are thinking of posting in the Here's How I...To read the guidelines at the top of each section!

Sorry but can you clarify? Are you saying we should only post tutorials on how to cook things?

This post is a thread about cooking a meatloaf, not a tutorial on how to cook a meatloaf.  So, just put it, and any others like it in the General Section about cooking.  If you are willing to go into greater detail about the cook, prep, seasoning, pictures of all the steps and documenting all the steps it can go in the Here is how I cook...

We welcome recipes and they should be posted in the recipe section.  But recipes should be just that -- list of ingredients, basic instructions, maybe one picture.  If you look under desserts at the German Chocolate Cheesecake recipe you should get a feel for what I mean.

The "Here's How I Cook...." board was meant to have threads which are more along the lines of tutorials where there are multiple steps and the poster is trying to provide insight and help teach folks who might need some guidance on how to do a certain step, pit times and temps. Hopefully several pictures are posted showing the process and progress so folks can get a feel for the cook and how to successfully complete the cook in their home. This is a section for folks who are wanting to "teach" others their process, not just share a cook or a recipe.  See FMT's post in "Here's How I Cook...Chicken"  "Another Competition Method". Also a link from the tutorial to a recipe card in the recipe section could solve some redundancy.

But, at the end of the day, I am not too trouble if there is some over lap or if we have to move things around.  Just a short clarification.  Thanks and keep contributing the great recipes and tutorials.

I started that conversation with my brother with a text this morning.

I altered the recipe a bit and made them somewhat smaller but here goes nothing. One for the oven and two for the smoker.  ???
