Just curious.  I am surprised at the results of the last poll.

I answered NO but that is based on where we are at with this thing currently and the social distancing (although we go get what we need, when we need it) , wearing a mask to protect others and from what I garner the relatively low ratio of death to positive cases. I forgot the large dose of hope on my part that is also factored in.
I venture to say that others feel the same way, the places we have gone just last weekend (Lowes, Home Depot and groceries) would be indicative of others feeling the same way. All 3 of them were packed.
We got to Lowes @ 7:00 a.m. waiting for them to open @ 8:00 and it was a really good thing we did. There were probably 10 other customer cars in the lot, lots of employee vehicles but they are always parked on the fringes. Within minutes of us getting there here they all started coming, by 8:00 I bet you there were over 100 cars. We had special ordered something so we just pulled up to a sign, called the # @ 8 Gave them our sign # and out they came. We did both though once loaded go in to use the restroom as it is an hour away from our house. Home Depot after and it was way worse. When we did use the restrooms most everyone had on a mask, about half had gloves and everyone seemed to be doing a great job at keeping their distance from each other.

It's a xxxx shoot. I answered yes as we older folks seem to get hit harder.. There are cases of people having Covid and not knowing it, old and young alike.. So much is unknown about Covid-19 that we just

don't know what to expect next..  Mother Nature is strong willed.

I answered no because, even though I'm surly in the high risk category, I do not take the threat lightly and strictly follow the isolation guide lines and until things are demonstrable better, I will continue to do so.

Even with some health issues that would make me in the higher risk category, I am not sure it is as bad as what they make it out to be. So I voted no.

I'm pushing 70 real hard and for someone that didn't think I'd see 57 I'm feeling quite blessed.  I'm just using common sense precautions. When exiting stores and washing with hand sanitizer and always wipe carts down with sanitizer cloths at the door.  Social distancing

I have no idea if I catch the virus if I will die. I know I don't want to find out.

I like to think that I am fairly healthy for 69 years old.  I walk (2 miles) or ride bikes (6 miles) 3 to 4 times a week and I work hard around the house.  I hurt like **** after doing all of this.  But I am on blood pressure, cholesterol, arthritis medication and I grew up with asthma.

I voted yes and this is why I am cautious when I go out.  I wear a mask and I wash my hands a lot.

I have absolutely no idea.  I am sure of only two things -- I have to pay taxes and I am going to die someday.  Maybe it will be in a car accident, or cancer, or a heart attack. I was once attacked on a busy, pedestrian filled street in downtown LA by a crazy person, so who knows, maybe one day I walk into a store and some crazed person comes in wth a gun and shoots me. I don't fly a lot anymore, but I may be the one on an unlucky flight.

Only God knows the time and manner of my death, so I really don't give a lot of thought to it or avoid activities because of it. But then I have also traveled to Iran, stood on the Kyber Pass, traveled the Karakoram Highway, traversed the Taklamakan Desert, hunted tigers on the backs of elephants in Nepal, hiked the Himalayas and watched polo in Gilgit Pakistan, been on safari in Africa where we were warned of the risk of many diseases, even the ones we could be vaccinated for (and some we couldn't). So maybe I have a higher tolerance for things which others may consider risky. Many of my friends thought my idea of vacation sounded like madness.  Would have missed out on a lot of things if I had only focused on risk.  Each of us is different.  One size does not fit all.

I agree with Kristen and I also thought I would repost my previous thread as IMO it is something to thin about

Thank you for the opportunity to allow me to vent.  First i think it is important to know my age which is 75.  I also understand from reading thee post many of us have different opinions.

I answered yes. I firmly believe we need to fully open our economy and allow us to go on living our lives.  I am tired of the inconsistencies of how the rules are being applied across the boards.  Wear masks, don't wear masks, stay at home unless you must go food shopping etc..  some states parks are fully closed others are open to exercise.  Don't need a mask to exercise but you must have one if outdoors.  You can boat but only if fishing for food.  More importantly I do not understand why all the small businesses must be closed yet Home Depot, Lowes etc are allowed to remain open.  xxxx they have a lot more shoppers then I have ever seen in an Ace Hardware store, the local florist, taylor shop etc.  Oh and why are liquor and canaibis stores allowed open but not local garden stores.

I am not one to promote conspiracy theories , however, we as American must be careful in giving up our rights to the politicians and their cronies.  Over the years I have been in to many foreign countries where I have seen too many people had too few rights. IMO we are heading this way and if it keeps up we will find that Big Brother is in control of our lives.  For instance why did the Michigan governor not allow people  to work in their yards but state employees are cutting grass on state properties, why did she allow out of state to go to their summer homes but initially prevent residents from visiting their properties.

Oh the best one IMO is in my neighborhood.  Comcast is installing new lines throughout the community and have have employed a hundreds of employees to dig the trenches and lay the cable.  At no time did i see any of these people wear masks or keep the social distancing guidelines.

So anyway let us lead our lives and not allow the government to take away our rights that our fore fathers and our Military fought so hard to protect.

This is pretty much how our state government responds. [ Invalid Attachment ]

I answered yes. I am 75 years old, have a lung disease that seriously impacts my ability to get oxygen into my blood and am on oxygen 24/7/365. When Covid19 started to impact our area I was concerned. The last time I left the house was 3/5. Now, I am not overly concerned. We have managed so far and as long as we remain vigilant we should be ok. What really ticks me off are the people who refuse wear masks. So inconsiderate of others.

This is statistically what has happened in my county in Texas (Bexar County) as of right now:

https://www.ksat.com/news/local/2020/03/31/dashboard-makes-it-easy-to-track-view-covid-19-cases-in-bexar-county/

(Age Range) - Deaths / Confirmed Cases = Percent of the confirmed cases that have died.
(0-19) - 0 / 94 = 0%
(20-29) - 0 / 343 = 0%
(30-39) - 2 / 358 = 0.56%
(40-49) - 3 / 325 =  0.92%
(50-59) - 7 / 297 = 2.36%
(60-69) - 13 / 202 = 6.44%
(70-79) - 11 / 98 = 11.2%
(80-89) - 15 / 39 = 38.5%
(90-99) - 2 / 4 = 50.0%

It appears that the older you get, your chances of having life threatening complications increases exponentially. It also appears the elderly are doing a better job of social distancing themselves from the rest of society. I fall in the 40-49 bracket with no real pre-existing conditions that put me at a larger risk, so I am not overly concerned about succumbing to the Coronavirus, even if I contract it.
