Are You Cooking Anything for Mother's Day?
« on: May 10, 2020, 09:47:51 AM »

I know it is a rather strange Mother's Day this year, but is anyone cooking anything special for any Mom's which may live with them?

My Mother was Minister of Music at our church in Fresno for many years.  She had a degree in music and taught for many years.  She had all the children's choirs at the church from kindergarten through high school -- 4 different choirs, plus specialty groups and the two handbell choirs.

She wrote a song for the kindergarteners to perform on Mother's Day, I still remember it:

"Mother's are important, they help us every day,
they wash our clothes and make our food and teach us how to pray.

God bless our Mother's, God bless our Mother's, God bless our Mother's,
       they help us every day."

No, but I dropped about $100 worth of food off at my parents house so they will have meals for the rest of the week or so from it.  My Dad likes to cook for the two of them.

I pulled out a package of smoked, sous vide, frozen sliced medium rare roast beef. I plan to thaw/warm via sous vide and serve it with a wine sauce, broccoli and a green salad. No starch or adult beverage, I've loss 35 pounds since the first of the year and don't want to quit now.

My wife was craving ribs so have them cooking now. one hour to go !!  Will get some pictures coming out.

Ribs were from our local butcher shop, they were great looking before the cook !!!  Cooked a little
to long for me but there were no leftovers !!!  Too many adult beverages sitting by the fire was the reason for cooking too long !!!

It was a nice day here, we took her Mother for a ride, she needed something from walmart and then we drove to a place called Island BBQ about 30 minutes or so, and bought late lunch there. Rib and chicken sampler. Was very good, the GF got an Island burger. I thought everything we got was very good, the GF didn't like the mac n cheese. Then drove around a bit and I stopped at a little ice cream place out in the middle of no where for them. A really nice day for a drive and it got her Mother out and about a bit.

Today's Mother's Day meal was completely cooked on the MAK 2 Star. It was a stuffed pork loin with a maple soy glaze, roasted potatoes topped with parmesan cheese and roasted zucchini. The dessert which was made by a 15 year old budding baker was a strawberry mouse cake topped with strawberry butter cream frosting and fresh strawberries
