Conflicted
« on: June 13, 2020, 06:18:33 PM »

I'm looking for a wireless thermometer for the ambient  and meat temp.

Thermpro 20 and inkbird 4xs look good, but I just don't know.

Any suggestions?  What do you use?

I use the Maverick ET-732.
Only 2 probes but it is accurate and works fine for me.
If I were in the market for a new unit I would look long and hard at the Smoke.

I have found Thermoworks products to be reliable and accurate. Most important to me is SERVICE + CUSTOMER CARE. Other companies may have little to none of this.

Have a look @ their "SMOKE" set-up.. IF you go Thermoworks: 1/ They often come on sale. 2/ Pellet Fan gets a cut if purchased correctly.

PS: Thermoworks is what I have used exclusively for several years with almost "0" problems. The one problem I had was more than taken care of. They have a very informative website w/ lots of temperature related info, not just their products.

Depending on your budget, you might want to consider the FireBoard products. A bit pricey, but support up to six probes.

I am all in on ThermoWorks. I ended up getting the Signals four probe wireless thermometer. They also have a two probe version.

They use the pro type probes which are less costly than the type K thermocouples but work just fine. I also have a ThermaQ with the type K thermocouple probes.

The type K probes are nice but not really worth the extra expense for what we are using them for.

I looked at the Fireboard product. It looks interesting. Since you have experience with both, how would you compare the Signals and the Fireboard? They look to be hitting the same niche, though the Fireboard supports more probes and it appears that their probes are less expensive.

hughver,

At about 20% of the cost of a Fireboard with six probes, if my Fireboard ever dies, I will likely try the Tenergy Solis.

Great find....

Yup, unfortunately, at that price you can't have it all.

Something that I consider with wireless based products and that is the app.  How is the integration and the ease of the use.  Personally I have the Fireboard and find it to be very good.  One thing they finally added after 2 years of requesting this feature is time based notes and photos.  Very cool if you like to log your cooks or share with your friends.  Though Thermoworks makes a very good product as well... good luck in your decision.

My Rock's Stoker became manufacturer discontinued without parts availability.  I replaced it with the Fireboard.  It's easy to install and not intuitive (for me) to operate.  It appears to be designed for iOS and I'd prefer it to be built around MacOS.

I have been using the original Tappeque for some time now with no issues. I do like the ability to monitor a cook on a PC as well as my phone.
