I have a 4.5 hour punk rock Christmas playlist on Spotify that I put together, but it is probably not for this audience.

Here are two songs on that playlist.

Billy Idol - Run Run Rudolph - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljpWCCLeDvM

Dropkick Murphys - The Seasons Upon Us - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTx-sdR6Yzk - this may be PG-13

Can you share that list?  I would like to check it out!

There are so many I like.  I really like Christmas Eve / Sarajevo by Trans Siberian Orchestra.  It is an all instrumental song. but the way it starts slowly and builds makes it such a good song to listen to.  I also like Aaron Neville's version of the Christmas Song as well.  Two opposites it appears.

JD, I am looking forward to your report back after you hear the rendition this evening and best of luck to you on your service.

It went well! We actually had a pre-Christmas Eve service so we could record, edit, and post it on Christmas Eve. It was a service of Lessons and Carols. We used a lot of the old classic hymns. Here is a link to the service, O Holy Night is at the 19 minute mark. It is far from a professional production, but I do think it captures the essence of Christmas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcy76x3ghaY&feature=youtu.be

For anyone looking for Christmas choir music 2020 style, you might want to check out this medley: https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=mcafee&p=United+Methodist+virtual+choir+christmas#id=1&vid=3623a6bc5397a6cd592cdf85171d8e46&action=click

12 Days Of Christmas  -  Bob and Doug McKenzie version

They come in a close second behind my favorite, but I'm a redneck from Texas so Merry Christmas From The Family by Robert Earl Keen is mine.  It describes many family get togethers from my youth.  This version is off of the #2 Live Dinner album.  It's a little more up tempo than most of his other versions.

Christmas in Prison by John Prine

Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon

I won't go down the Dr. Demento path.

Otherwise, they have to be traditional carols. I really dislike Christmas songs turned into show tunes.

That's a classic. It shows how good a singer Dave Bowie is. He was able to hold his own with Bing.

My wife always liked to listen to the Kingston Trio's Christmas album. It was a tradition in her family. It's actually quite good.

I cannot disagree with any of the above. However, I am sorry you weren't willing to go down the Dr. Demento path! Loved that show. He actually put out a kids album. It was in the same format as the radio show. It was played a lot when my kids were growing up. Years later, when my son and I visited the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, he discovered a display talking about Dr. D's contributions to music. He was was so impressed and excited to see it. He called me over to make sure I saw it. It was one of those moments I where I figured I must have done something right as a parent!!

Here is a Northern Michigan classic from Da Yoopers, Rusty Chevrolet. I think I used to drive the car this song was written about!
