I may come knocking on your front door with a hungry look about me.  I'll pretend to be charming.

As presentation is ~ 5% of taste; this weighs in @ 100%, taste wise.

I keep seeing Scallops in everything!  Are the potatoes sliced like one would do for an Au Gratin?

My Dad always said we eat first with our eyes and that a good presentation makes bad food taste good and a poor presentation makes good food look bad.

Very nice, as others have said, presentation is very important and you nailed it.

I certainly mean no disrespect to your father and I have seen others from BBQ Competitors to Michelin Star Chefs say the same thing, but I cannot agree with at least the 1st part of this statement.  Bad food is bad food, no matter how pretty it looks.  And I have eaten food that looks like slop that tasted wonderful, so all I can assume is I do not eat with my eyes at anytime!

Presentations is a beautiful thing and you and others do it very well on this site sometimes.  But it is also what turns an $11 dollar dish into a $42 dollar dish!  It has nothing to do with how good or bad a dish tastes.
