A Review coming.
« on: May 22, 2021, 01:42:18 PM »

Kristin is going all in for Memorial Day, Smash Burgers, potato salad, all the bad Keto stuff.  So I decided might as well do it right.  Now I was not willing to shell out $150-$300 for a Blackstone or similar, but I was willing to give up $100 so I had more room to do smash burgers right. And I think I will finally be able to do my Squeeze Inn Burger!

Will do a short review when I get it.  Most of you already have one that is twice the size, so not sure it will help much!

My cousin bought this same one to take camping, her husband saw it and said buy it. He didn't look at anything other than the picture, when it came and they got it out he said it is to heavy to drag around camping.

For me that sounds good.  Stability, I am going to have it on a cart outside.  It hooks up to a BBQ tank, so I can make a mess out back and have no consequences!  I will have to get a cheap peice of carpet to put underneath it...hello Breakfast for Dinner!

That grill/griddle is nice looking.  It may be my best option also to upsize from the 17" Blackstone I have now that normally stays in my RV.  A 36" would be overkill for just the two of us.  I just got the Royal Gourmet outdoor cart for my griddle to sit on.

I am thinking the same thing, we use it often and only have the 17” and it fills up fast.

I started with a 17 BS then like you wanted something bigger so was looking for a 22" then a year or so ago around Christmas they brought out the 28" Pro, they were sold at Wally World for $199 but a lot of stores were discounting them down to 175 some even 100, I found one about a 45 minute drive for 125.
it was worth the drive and aggravation to get. SQ In wise since it is deeper that the 36 it is only about a sheet of paper smaller, and 3 burners. I usually only cook for 2 but the extra size if great, most of the time I do the whole meal on it. The 17 doesn't get used much anymore unless we go to where ever my cousin is camping, I take it along to cook different things on that are easier than doing over the fire.

I have the 22 inch BS and really like it.  I haven't learned how to cook much on it yet other than burgers, eggs and bacon.  I want to learn how to do stir fry and all the stuff our daughter won't eat.  She's off to college in the fall so I'm hoping to get a tutorial from Bentley.  I have mine on a cart with the adapter for the big propane bottle and it works great.  And I enjoy Bentley's reviews.  He could review a new butter knife and make it interesting.

One of the reasons I was pleased my new grill was upgraded to the Legacy; it came with this cast iron griddle.

Something totally new for me to play with - have never used a griddle on a grill before. But it fits perfectly and securely, taking the place of one of the 3 grates.

Pretty nice feature on your Louisiana.

You read the reviews of this item and it might scare some away, bad heat distribution, grease hole does not line up, etc...most that I have read about seem very easy to overcome or make just a slight modification to correct.  I guess some feel that an item should always be 100% perfect for their money, and I can understand it, but if I can get it at a reduced cost and it takes a five minute fix to correct, I have no problem with that either!  I am pleased it has 3 burners.  I simply cant imagine having 3 going at once.  I guess many people do not grasp the idea of zone cooking no matter what the device.  I look forward to having the left or right side cooler with many cooks, things like vegetables, burgers or eggs.  Not to mention Teppanyaki and Cheesesteaks.  It is going to be fun to cook on.  My one concern is the finish, saw a few post about the finish not being quality and one person even showing the porcelain coating? flaking off.

Fun to cook on - that is the important thing.

During a very wet winter (and spring, for that matter - wettest May here on record), when I was not going to go to my grills at the foot of my garden to cook something just for me, I've been happily cooking burgers and the like in my Ninja Foodi, in AirFry mode. I was quite surprised how savoury the outside of the burger got, basting in its own fat at 390°F.

Next thing I tried was the same level of heat on a small piece of pork shoulder, to get it browned, before transferring to an ordinary slow cooker. The pulled pork that resulted lacked the smokiness of what I could make on the old Traeger, but it was tasty, and still better than shop-bought.

I learned on the first cook that I didn't need both burners going full blast.  It got too hot for eggs.  I've been thinking I might start with it cool and throw the bacon on then slowly work my way up to temp with one burner.  It's in the studying on it phase still since no one has wanted bacon and eggs for a while.  I need to just use it more to get better with it.

It took about 5 minutes to set up.  I cooked on it, but there is an 8 mph wind and that seems to be effecting the burners.  There are 4 adjustment screws, when setting up, I did not bother to worry how high or low they are.  I now believe that they will need to be at there lowest setting to get the maximum heat with or without wind/breeze.  Let me be the 1st to say that Smash Burgers and just McDonald's burgers when you can only get your griddle to 250°.  Worst case scenario I would have to build a wind break around my table.  But it is wonderful to have lots of space to "smash" patties.  I can say that the Squeeze Inn burger is coming!

Wind is a big issue with these griddles.  I just received a set of wind shields for my 17" Blackstone.  There has been several times when I wanted to use the Blackstone, but I could not due to the wind.

Wind is brutal on them but once you figure out how to shield it you are going to be a very happy guy.
Looking forward to your cooks/thoughts.
