My last day of work after 11 years on the job...
« on: September 29, 2017, 08:03:49 PM »

Not pellet grill related but a big change for me... Today was my last day of work after 11 years on the job.  The owner who started the company 28 years ago is  shutting down at the end of the year and can no longer keep me on.  When I started I had just graduated from Santa Clara University and was living in my parents basement.  I now have a great house, amazing wife, beautiful daughter and fantastic dog.  A lot has changed in 11 years, its time for my next chapter.  Happy Friday!

Hey man, good luck. My wife and I have both had jobs with the same companies since we got married over 18 years ago so we are very lucky. Hope your next gig is even better for you.

Good luck.  I lost my job in 2003 after being with the company in multiple jobs around the country for about 13 years.  I found a new job 3 months later and have been there almost 14.5 years now.  It has been a great ride for me.  You will find something that will be even better than what you had.

Dunno why I envisioned you as an older guy. Weird...

I'm sure that something better is on the horizon.  :pig:

I am learning more about our PelletFan members.  pz and I went to the same undergrad institution (UCSD), same college (Warren) and graduated one year apart.  I also went to Santa Clara, but to the law school and graduated over 30 years before you did.  Always find some nice shared experiences with folks on the forum.

From just the little you have done on this forum, I can tell that you are very talented and have a bright future.  I too have left jobs after long years with the same firm and it is painful even though there are always good memories. But the future holds a lot of promise for talented people with good skills, so I know you will succeed in your future undertakings.

I wish you the best knowing that success is as much of your future as is has been of your past.  I am nearing the end of my work life since that is what I want to do but feel a bit of remorse knowing that I continue to learn more and more each day from every experience I have both good and what you may believe at the time to be bad.  Even a bad outcome on the grill can make you a better cook and will soon be chalked up to the wonders of life just as the job change will be for you.  Oh to be 35 with so much time to enjoy your life,  and not worry about the "good old days" which are gone with memories only to remain.
