Tritip cooked like brisket

7.5 hours total. 250 degrees on my SmokeFire. Wrapped at 160, in foil. Added a little butter. Removed at 203 degrees. Let rest for about an hour.

That looks very good. Does it come out tasting more like a normal tri-tip or a brisket?

You may have really hit on something there. I cook a lot of tri-tips. That could be a really easy way to get brisket flavor without the time and complexity.

I will have to give that a try. Maybe I will throw one in the next time I do chuck roast. It looks like they take about the same amount of time.

It is a little more lean that brisket. So it has a slightly different flavor. Perfect for sandwiches.

trisket.  This was a fad on PH a few years back.  I tried it a few times and it was good, but medium to medium rare tri tip ... you really don't want to mess with success.

I have to say, I do like medium rare tritip better, but if I’m feeling like brisket, this may come into play before.

For me it is grilled or nothing with tri-tip.  Old habits die hard.  And jimsbaebeque is the 1st one I ever saw do this on Pelletheads about 11 years ago!

Tri Tip on my kettle, with hickory, is my favorite! Done medium rare, with a coffee rub…

Tri Tip is hard to find here, so equals expensive. I was almost done with it as I was not at all impressed after trying several at medium rare to medium. Then I tried a trisket. I will buy again just for that if price is right.

I actually had a trisket sandwich this afternoon…all I can say is wow, was it good. Mayo, mustard, pepper jack cheese….

I used Kinders The Blend-it’s an SPG blend, I used McCormick Garlic and Herb, and Meat Church Holy Voodoo. I also let it sit overnight in the fridge in the seasoning, inside gallon ziplock bags.
