Tomahawk Steaks

Out of everything I cook on my smoker, tomahawk steaks are my favorite. My local Costco seems to only put these out around Super Bowl weekend. This works out well for us since this around my birthday and my daughters. I do the reverse method for cooking. The steaks are smoked at 225 F until they reach an internal temperature of 120 F and seared on the gasser until they reach 130F. They come out a very beautiful medium rare.

Never tried them.
Actually never hear of or saw them until the last few years.

It is hard to tell from the picture but these guys are around 2 inches thick. My wife and daughter kept saying they weren't going to eat anymore and proceeded to get another piece. Prime steaks aren't cheap these days but it is a once a year thing for us.

I would have liked to have seen the final product when it came off of the grill before and after slicing.

Somehow the post clicked: Tomahawk Steaks/JoeGrilling. Couldn't resist.
As for the tomahawks. They are so good: the meat, the bone to chew on, the looks and the name.. The only negative I am aware of is $.
