Small Dinner Party.
« on: May 07, 2022, 02:15:15 PM »

A few friends over for a very Rib Sticking Bent kind of meal. Lots of fatting foods.  Meat loaf with ground Rib Roast.  Roasted Garlic mashed potatoes, Granma's Corn Pudding & ABT's and Devil's on Horseback for Starters.  And Kristin's Italian Cream Cake for dessert!

I try and I try to get my meatloaf even and it always come out like CalTrans has been blasting away at it!

A few different variants.  They are a take off on Angles on Horseback, which is a bacon wrapped oyster.  I have made them with dates, when I used dates I stuff with a Nut and bacon wrap.  Some also use prunes, and when I use them I stuff with string cheese, wrap and deep fry!  They can be put in oven, but I hate the way the bacon comes out on the bottom, so I fry!  It also only takes 2 minutes!

So those are prunes split open or pounded flat with some string cheese and then wrapped.
I may have to give this a try.

I rolled them to flatten, as I wanted it to completely cover the cheese.  I have not made these in awhile, I like prunes, but to me they overpowered both the cheese and bacon.  I am going back to dates!
