The beans looks good.  Have a picnic to go to Monday, may have to try them.  I know Trooper has made these a couple of times at Competitions for Friday dinner.  Are Lima and Butter the same?  I would have to replace them and the Kidney.  Neither are my favorite.  Red bean for Kidney and Navy for Butter!

Replace any of the beans with the beans of your choice should be fine. Lima and Butter are not the same.

Bacon was over 1 lb. but I used some for breakfast.
What temp for the bacon? Was it thick or regular?  I had a fire when I tried it without a drip pan. (bad control which I have since replaced)

I cook mine at 300 until crispy. Have not had a grease fire at that temp.

Regarding the rub: My son in law who is a CA native born and raised and knows his Tri Tip said: "What was the seasoning you used on the Tri Tip?  That was really good!"  Said he went home and told his brother how good the Tri Tip was.  Speaks for itself I guess. I have used it on a steak and found it very flavorful as well.  You won’t go wrong with it.

I ordered two from Sam's Club this morning.  Thanks for sharing the rub and the feedback from your guests.

I use Kinder's SPG from Costco all the time.

Everything looks delicious . I have made Calico beans but its been a while and no idea what recipe I followed. Probably from an old family  recipe book. I need to make some again for sure.

In the bean recipe I leave out the white sugar portion and only add the brown sugar.
