Has been a long time since I had a chili cheese dog.
Eating on the cheap tonight. Got all the ingredients at Aldi’s

Aldi’s originated in Germany so it makes sense they offer “German” hot dogs (made in the USA no less).  Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s are actually sister companies.

Even got the chili at Aldi’s

I suppose we could start a side debate on the origin of chili (I have no idea) and whether or not it should have beans included. I prefer no beans when on a hot dog, fries or hamburger.  With beans when eaten as a soup.

Grilled the dogs at 425.

Finished product

The cheese and onion and buns were from Aldi’s as well.

They were DELICIOUS.

Thanks for watching

Don't eat hot dogs that often, on a stick over a fire burnt black with ketchup usually, or just grilled with mustard and onions.

But seeing this I want to try it. Looks great.

One of my favorite foods and the canned chili with no beans just seems to be the best.

I go for Wolf Brand "Hot". Which is not very hot. No beans unless you are having a bowl of it for a meal. Best chili I ever had was at the original "Chili's" in Dallas, Tx. back in the 60s?. It was a pure chili and burger joint back then. They had two or three different choices of hot. Mild was almost too much for me then and hot made you sweat behind the ears. Their burgers were also super. Then they franchised and changed the menu and chili was not even a major offer. They reintroduced their chili several years ago, but not even close to the same. And only one strength---mild.

I do bacon wrapped dogs. Put them in a bun with chili with beans, onions, diced tomatoes and cheese. Good eating...

I don't eat dogs often, but when I do, I like them with onions and cheese too.

I am an onion, coney sauce, mustard, and cheese fan on a hot dog. I used to get them with sauerkraut and mustard periodically as well.

This "world famous chili dog" is definitely not what you want to shoot for. I believe that a chili dog should be so smothered with chili that you have to eat it with a knife and fork.

I use my homemade chili along with either a polish dog or kielbasa. I prefer mine smothered with chili and beans.

I have a bunch of cans of Aldi brand Brookdale chili in my earthquake/pandemic food stocks. Like most canned chili, it is pretty poor. Good for emergencies but not much more.

Hank your chili looks mighty fine, but that would be just for eating for me. I prefer no beans when it comes to a chili/coney sauce for hotdogs. The best one I have found is Custard Stand Chili. I have just bought it in the refrigerated section of my Walmart, but I would love to go to one of the locations and try it fresh. I would love to try that and go to a place called Hillbilly hotdogs in West Virginia to try their dogs as well.

I had to throw a quick dinner together tonight so I grabbed a can of Brookside chili (without beans) and put it over some grilled kielbasa. I didn't have any buns so I ate it low carb style.
It was better than the der Wienerschnitzel I had for breakfast.

Us old timers still use the article "der". It was dropped in 1977 so that signs would be less expensive to make.
